SEP 2 The Official Animal Rights March (NYC) Public · Hosted by Robert Banks and 4 others

Join me and tons of animal lovers and advocates tomorrow for the  Official Animal Rights March.
We will be marching for all the voiceless in unity and peace! We can no longer sit by when there is so much suffering among our world's animals, we're their voice. The more marchers the bigger the impact! The details are below:

https://www.facebook.com/events/936538766485922/?active_tab=about

"Join us on the streets of New York as we march through the city demanding an end to all animal oppression. The animal rights movement is growing at an unprecedented rate and now is the time to join together and unify, let’s make our voices heard and show that the future is vegan.
Join New York Animal Defenders, the Save Movement, Skylands, dXe, PeTA, Catskills sanctuary, LION, and many others at the Flatiron building at 2pm (we encourage people to start arriving as early as noon).
UNTIL EVERY CAGE IS EMPTY"

AGENDA
We are absolutely thrilled to have so many dedicated activists who will be present to UNITE FOR THE ANIMALS. With that said, let us all remember why and for whom we are gathering on this day. We are coming together for the innocent, the ignored, the silenced, and the forgotten. We are gathering to amplify their unheard cries, to cast aside all egos, and to unify as ONE VOICE for innocent animals everywhere. While encouraging that you bring every ounce of energy that makes you a unique warrior, we must also ask that you agree to conduct yourself in a respectful manner at all times. Our actions and words should never endanger the safety or well-being of anyone in attendance. Beyond this day, know that your actions, whether positive or negative, will always be a reflection of animal rights activists everywhere. We must be strong enough to curb our emotions at times, because this struggle is not our own, and because there is so much more at stake than ourselves. The time to act is now. If not you, then whom? If not now, then when?

We have selected these locations because of their historical significance to both resistance and reform.
HOW TO DRESS/WHAT TO BRING
We are encouraging all participants to unify in wearing black shirts on the day of the march. Any writing on it would preferably have a message relevant to Animal Rights. There will be a limited amount of T-shirts with the march’s logo on it that will be available the morning of the march and will be sold strictly on a first-come first-serve basis.
All participants are encouraged to create their own signs and to post images of them on this page so as to inspire others to do the same. Anyone able to create multiple signs for that day would also be greatly appreciated. A limited amount of signs will be available that day but once again will be distributed to those arriving early.
The most important thing to bring is…YOURSELF. When combined with your love for animals and resolve to fight for their right to exist, we shall surely be laying further groundwork on the path towards total animal liberation.

Clear the Shelters

It's no secret that our homeless animal population results in the killing our millions of adoptable animals yearly. It's a sad reality that no one wants to face! As an animal advocate I have always promoted adopt don't shop, while shelter pets die.

New York: Take a stand to protect elephants

The passage of S.2098B/A.464B would prohibit the use of elephants in circuses and other traveling shows across the state of New York and put an end to their suffering. The legislature showed strong bipartisan support for this bill. Now, it just needs the governor's signature to become law.
The use of elephants in circuses and other traveling shows brings nothing but misery and suffering to these magnificent animals who are denied everything that is natural and important to them. They are poked and prodded with sharp and painful metal bullhooks, forced to perform ridiculous tricks and endure extreme confinement while chained in trucks and trailers for months of grueling travel.
Elephants in exhibitions also pose public safety risks by bringing people into close proximity to incredibly powerful, unpredictable and stressed wild animals. When an elephant rebels against a trainer’s physical dominance, trainers cannot protect themselves let alone the general public. Elephants in such shows have rampaged, causing injuries to members of the public and injuring and killing handlers.
As the public has become increasingly aware of the plight of elephants, a growing number of states, counties and cities are passing important legislation to address this issue, including New York City.
TAKE ACTION
Please take a moment to call Gov. Cuomo at 518-474-8390 now and urge him to expand this historic move statewide by signing S.2098B/A.464B, the Elephant Protection Act. You can say, "I'm your constituent. Please support S.2098B/A.464B to protect elephants from abuse in circuses and traveling shows."
After your call, use the form below to send a follow-up message. Editing your message will help it stand out.

Your Message

Dear Gov. Cuomo,
As a concerned New York resident, I am urging your support of S.2098B/A.464B to prohibit the use of elephants in circuses and other traveling shows.

These elephants are trained with painful punishment using sharp bullhooks, bullied to perform unnatural tricks and endure extreme confinement while chained in trucks and trailers for months at a time. Using elephants in traveling shows also poses serious public safety risks by bringing stressed and powerful wild animals into close proximity with circusgoers.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

So Much Going On!

CM  Mendez

CM Johnson

Hello all,

I have been so busy lately as a result, it's been a while since we connected! There's so much going on in the animal advocacy world, there have been some setbacks and some progressive strides. It's always a struggle, fighting for the voiceless! First, I'd like to express joy over Intro 1233 being signed into law by Mayor Bill de Blasio; way to go Mayor! As some of you know Intro 1233 is a bill that does not allow circuses that feature wild animal acts to perform within NYC. The bill was introduced by Council Member Rosie Mendez which has been eleven years in the making! Council Member Mendez with the help of Council Member Corey Johnson overcame massive odds and brought this bill to victory.

To quote animal advocate John Phillips: "Council Member Johnson used his powerful position as Chair of the Council's Health Committee to get us a vote and push this bill over the finish line. The Council's 43-6 vote to adopt #Intro1233 was a historic win for animals and our political movement -- it never would have happened without these two brave and compassionate elected
 officials".

I applaud the determination of these two great animal advocates and Mayor de Blasio for signing the bill into law. It sends a powerful message that NYC will not stand for wild animals to be held as captives for profit any longer. Now these majestic animals will know what they should have known in the first place, freedom and happiness without the misery and the oppressive nature of the for profit trade!
